Denny's Family
That is the restaurant. I'm still recovering from our late night Wednesday. Angie's plane was supposed to be in at 11:45pm but once we got to the airport we were the only ones there, as we'd heard there would be some of her friends there to greet her. The board said it was on time and now it was time for her to be here and let us get home to bed. No such luck. The polite announcer gave us the news it hadn't even left Atlanta yet so the new arrival time would be 1:30. 2 hours to kill. So Mom, Dad, Darren and I went to Denny's for breakfast, at 12am. Sleepiness aside it made our conversation that much funnier and it was nice, just the core family together again, in a booth eating breakfast, waiting on our little sis to get home. That's not an experience you get whole lot of once everyone is married and has kids.
Anyways, we headed back to the airport and there were a couple other people there so they must have called ahead the first time. Well it ended up being delayed again! So by the time 2am rolls around, the Denny's coffee is wearing off and we're all getting tired as more and more of her friends show up. The plane arrived at around 2 and with a group of around 20 people (!) waiting for one person at the airport at 2 in the morning, it was a site to see. It was especially so as all the groggy travelers got off and came up the ramp to be greeted by a band of people singing Angies most-hated song "Friends are friends forever" or whatever the title is called. I can't imagine what all the other passengers were thinking when seeing that.
She enjoyed it and ran to the group and gave everyone hugs. Then we got her luggage and finally said goodbye to the airport about 3am. Reflecting back on it, it was a nice, unique evening with the fam and a little insight into how special my sis is to a lot of people, people willing to be at the airport at 2am just to welcome her home.
