LU Sues Microsoft over Xbox -- Lucent sued Microsoft, claiming it is using Lucent video-decoding technology in the Xbox 360 video game system. The lawsuit, filed March 28 in federal court in San Diego, claims the Xbox 360 is using Lucent technology without permission and seeks compensation, plus a court order to halt use of the technology. Now if only the settlement was a free 360 and some games for each of the LU employees! That would help me feel a little better about the 10's of millions our CEO gets. It really is amazing how many patents we have because of Bell Labs (our research division) and the amount of money we make off licensing those patents in field not even related to telecom (but this one is).
