I remember in my gradeschool library looking at a huge book that was basically a reprint of old black and white, turn of the century, newspaper/catalog ads. I guess a lot of things were bought then by mail since your local general store probably didn't have but the basics. Though for some reason I had it in my mind that there were some things that I just wouldn't be buying via the new catalog, the Internet, due to local availabilty and shipping costs. I know I've seen everything from small towns to tatoos sold via eBay, but I surprised myself a little this past week by buying tires for our SUV online. I did all the research and then found a really good deal online. I ended up saving at least $175 (on 4, including installation) over the cheapest I could find locally of the same. Giddyup.
