Risley Ramblings

He's finally here! Amys water had broken around 1:30 am Wednesday, the morning we were to induce and so they admitted us around 4am. Thankfully as we got the last room since her water broke. If we'd had to wait for induction we probably wouldn't have gotten in for a while. Since her contractions were steady but not strong they went ahead and gave her Pitocin (sp?) to help out. We were expecting around supper or noon at the earliest. Amy got her epidural and then about an hour later (9ish) she started feeling pressure and pain. So we called the nurse in and she checked and surprised she said he's almost here! She paged the doc and then got the crew moving and readying the room. Amy didn't think she would make it before the doctor got there.

She (the doc) got there and with just a few strong pushes, the wrinkly faced boy was here! 8lbs 1oz and 19.5". He was very good natured and ate well and slept the rest of the time. Today he got his first surgery (down below) and then we headed home.

We think he looks a lot like Claire did and they have the same lips. Some said he looks like his dad. He didn't have as much hair as Claire did but did have some.

Claire just loves him and doesn't want to let him go. "Sweet baby" she keeps calling him. I think she's going to be a great big-sis. We're all looking forward to getting some more sleep and thankful that Amy's mom is staying with us for the week to help out. But we are most thankful that he's here and a healthy baby boy. We are blessed now with two beautiful gifts from God.
