Great Wolf Lodge Vacation
Sunday we headed out for a much needed break and went down to the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark in Dallas for 2 days and then off to Amy's sisters for another before heading home. Very fun.
We were glad to have the Hawley's join us for the trip. We got there Sunday afternoon and swam for a while before heading out to the Rainforest Cafe in Grapvine Mills mall. We've been there a few times but it's always a treat for the kids to experience it. Then another two full days of fun and activities at the Lodge. It's great as there is so much to do there for all ages besides just the swimming. Plus all the local attractions such as the mall and tons of shopping and restaurants at Southlake or other close areas are within a 5 minute drive.
Though no pool of water rarely goes over 4ft deep there are a ton of lifeguards everywhere which is nice. Also, there are plenty of lifejackets available for the kids. There's the kid play area, wave pool, 2 hot tubs, signature water tower with slides, lazy river, and of course 5 large waterslides. (I think there are a couple also outside for the summer months). One caveat on the large slides is kids need to be 42" tall to ride with adult on 3 of them and the other two you have to be 48" to even ride them. Thankfully Claire met the minimum height and so we did the 3 slides she could do. Multiple, many, numerous times. Be prepared for a workout as it is 83 steps to the lower slides and 103 to the upper ones, no kidding.
Throughout the day and in the evening they have an interesting show in the Lobby. There theme is "There's nothing to be scared of here", that is of course except the creepy animatronics!
All in all we had a great time and the kids did too! I can definitely see us going back.
Recommendations: We didn't find any specials or discounts there so you just have to keep looking online for when the drop prices for slow times. Go during the week to avoid the crowds, you'll get to ride the slides much more as well. You get a free appetizer at Rainforest Cafe if you show your wristband which was one of the only places that gave you any benefit. We took a lot of our food for breakfast and lunch but the prices there in their restaurants are not too bad. We have a small wheeled cooler for drinks (and clothes) but they don't allow those in the swimming area, only hand bags. They say they keep it 84 degrees inside, though we didn't think so as we needed the hot tub a few times were weren't climbing the steps to the slides. That may change with summer temps outside.

Sounds like you all had a great time. I think the summer might be fun too...to take advantage of the outside water area. Did you all do the MagiQuest? They are probably a little too young yet but I recommend it when they get older. It is fun for adults as well.
