Bruised forehead
Had a great 3 day weekend, sort of. Started about last Wednesday trying to load a new copy of Windows XP onto my laptop. Short version, Sunday afternoon after about 20+ tries and 5 days of numerous hours of formatting and on help boards and any other info I could find, plus taking apart the laptop (my first) I simply removed the installed modem and XP installed perfectly. It was the end of a very long frustration, the type that with perseverance, like hitting your head against a brick wall but you continue anyway, at long last reach breakthrough. I think my actual words when it happened were "sweet hallelujah". At least my whole weekend wasn't used on it and I did learn a lot.
Monday was nice and we just did things around the house. Headed over to Amy's sister's for supper and then off with the group to see the fireworks. Once we got home (outside of city limits) in ours and surrounding additions, there were numerous block parties. So many so that next year it may just be better to stay home, pull out a blanket, and watch them as for the last few nights we'd had ton's of fireworks going off overhead from about dusk til midnight. And some of the amateur ones close up are about as good as any city ones.
